This body of work emerges from an ongoing practice centered on human connection, hope, and the power we have to support one another. As an artist, I am deeply inspired by the profound relationship between humanity and water. Covering 85% of our planet, water is a force that connects us all—no matter how close or far we are from its shores.

Laura Husar Garcia (b.1967, Chicago, Illinois) explores themes of wonder, hope, and the resilience of the human spirit through a lens of deep environmental sensitivity. Her photographic practice, rooted in a life-long engagement with water and nature, centers on their restorative power—particularly for those in need of healing and connection. Garcia’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally in museums and contemporary art spaces, and is held in both public and private collections. She is a recipient of the Julia Margaret Cameron Award and a Community Grant from the Illinois Humanities Council. Garcia incorporates photography as a meditative daily practice, with installations collected by hospitals, civic institutions, designers, and individual collectors. Her studio is based in the Chicago area.
