
In my works, I examine sensual inner memories that conjure places from my formative time, distilling them into an essence of a basic material component from the event that played the main role in creating a stamp onto my persona. Whether it be: grass, hair, stones, seeds, sticks, bones - whatever back then was my companion. Returning to them, I comprehend they play major roles in our habitat, nevertheless in their presence, absence, or endangerment, and this is what I want to share with the viewer.
Marzena Ziejka (b.1968, Tarnow, Poland) received art education from public art high school in Tarnow then worked 11 years as a professional weaver. She graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy at Jagiellonian University in Krakow.
She exhibited in the States, Canada, Germany, Slovakia, Ukraine, China and Mexico. Her works are in collections of Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art, Chicago; in Poland: Central Museum of Textiles, Lodz; Museum of Craft, Krosno; Museum of Gdynia City, and private collections.
