There’s something so unassuming and yet so mysterious about a wall that has been “vandalized”… it’s often every bit as beautiful and complex as the greatest masterpieces in museums and a blind collaboration of accident and intention by many hands. I like to emulate this in my work.
Vanessa Navarrete (b.1976, St. Augustine, Florida) is a Chicago-based, American painter, known for her “post-vandalism” style. Her current work is about people, animals, and the perplexities of being human today.
